I almost feel guilty raving about this place because even though Egyptians know about it and have been coming for decades, there are relatively few foreign tourists. This has allowed Marsa Matruh to retain its unique cultural authenticity, with its delightful Bedouin hospitality and scrupulously honest people. I hope it won't be invaded soon by too many foreign tourists. Avoid coming in July and August. The best months are May, early June, September and October. The sea is the best along north coast however beaches and the provided service are not as good If you care about the quality of stay you need to visit private beaches yet expect not to be satisfyingly served Water facilities are not the best too If you like local markets you will like the city if not i don't recommend as it's too crowded in high seasons

Great city , especially it is small and you can go any place in max 30 min with car all water sports are there in other beaches i recommend to just rent the best clean place and buy all you stuff from the city it self even the food if this is okay for you Marsa mtroh is good cozy small place , very calm , sea is perfect

Marsa Matruh itself which is 35km from the hotel we were staying at is a den for Islamic fundamentalists, salafis and moslem brotherhood. It is not a place to be visited. Jazz hotel is in Almaza Bay which is totally separate from Marsa Matruh.DinaEgypt

Mârșa Matruh is dead in the winter months so there's not a great selection locally but in the town ... Very comfortable and spacious apartment with good hot water and facilities. Local bus to the town centre is just outside. Taxis everywhere. Friendly staff( and children). Ahmed gave me a lift to the bus station. Twice. Because of a mix up( timings change on Friday and to be sure of a seat get to the minibus in good time). Super value for money.

It was spacious, super clean and equipped with everything I needed. Room had a balcony with the magnificent view on the turquoise blue sea. Staff was super friendly and very helpful. Every morning I had a delicious and hefty breakfast. Hotel is situated in the middle of town, walking distance to the beach, great restaurants and markets. This is definitely my place to stay the next time I come to Matruh.
