Very under-rated town, has fine buidings, historic walls, is superbly situated by mouth of River Tweed; excellent rail service; gorgeous countryside and coast very near. Deseserves to be far better known. One of the jewels of the UK.

Berwick has great historical interest and lots to do and see. There are some good restaurants like Mavi and Foxtons, lots of small independent shops and great walks around the walls. It is also a great base for visits to the surrounding Borders country with its many and varied attractions.

Plenty of choice for accommodation if you plan on staying...
Plenty of choice for accommodation if you plan on staying over & reasonably priced. Lovely historal place with nice cafes & places to eat or drink. Car parking is free both short & long stay. Short stay you need to buy a pass/clock £1 from local shops or maybe included with your accommodation. We stayed Monday to Friday this year & previously Friday to Monday last year. Both places we stayed were comfy, high standard of cleanliness & was very impressed with both. So can recommend both Stow House & Strothers Guest House if you're planning to stay over for few nights. Also beach is not too far away & some lovely walks including the castle walls. If you enjoy fish n chips theres quite few chippies too. We tried Castlegate & really nice. There's also couple that do sit in & dine. There's also Haven caravan park a short walk away from town centre. Regular bus service around town centre & surrounding areas. Was quite quiet possibly being April when we visited this time. The market is on Wednesday & Saturdays which was also quiet but again this could be as its still probably low season.

Not how I remember it but it was forty years since I was there. Covid has shut down a lot of places so a bit of a ghost town but enjoyed walking around the walls which surround the town and reading all the information boards on the way. Crossing the bridge that spans the river tweed was a nice walk too. We had a meal in the amore restaurant which was really nice on our way back too the hotel we discovered a gem of a gift shop called grannies

It’s my home town, I grew up in Berwick and always love returning. The people are friendly, the architecture is great, it’s an ideal centre for walking, with a choice of countryside, sea views or river views. The high street looks a bit tired, but that’s in line with many town centres currently. There are still many independent shops and several restaurants supplying good food at a range of prices.

Centre a bit down on its luck like many towns these days.
Centre a bit down on its luck like many towns these days. But the walks around the old town and the walls are always splendid. Some interesting shops on Bridge Street - books, green produce, kitchen utensils.

The host was excellent. We needed an early check in for a wedding so had to request this. Messages were replied to promptly and they managed to accommodate our request for this, for which we were really grateful. The building and the room were beautiful and it was easy to find. The shower had excellent pressure, better than our one at home! Wee mini fridge in the room was a great wee touch and the mugs were a decent size (rather than the daft wee mugs you normally get with a hotel room)
The room was great - large and comfortable. Very comfy beds and an excellent shower/bathroom. Breakfast was substantial and tasty. The bar was also large, light and very pleasant, with open fires. Service was great at all times. Very good location for a visit to lovely Berwick on Tweed. We had two dogs with us and I don't think I've ever come across a more dog-friendly hotel - the staff made it so easy.
We had a lovely time at this cozy friendly hotel, the room was very clean and they had thoughtfully laid out an extra camp bed rather than me sharing a double with one of my daughters. They had left treats for my daughters in the room too. Everyone was so kind at dinner and breakfast and the food was delicious! Highly recommend this lovely place!
Very dog friendly. Breakfast was very good. Location nice and some good walks for the dog. Very close to a caravan park just on the coast and suspect the hotel would be very busy during the high season. Bedroom good size and well appointed. Overall a nice hotel at a reasonable price. Need to advertise nightly cost of having a dog stay.
The Nook is a comfortable and cosy place to stay. The hosts had added lovely little touches such as supplies so we could have a hot drink without needing to dash straight out to the supermarket, and toiletries in the bathroom. The Nook is close to the old bridge across the river and really handy for walking into Berwick-Upon-Tweed.
Nice cosy and comfortable rooms- next door to the rest of our party. All staff very friendly and obliging. Tasty breakfast and evening meal. Hotel in a central location in Berwick, near old wall, parks etc. On street parking good, with the permit. Good base for visiting Lindesfarne, Bamborough and St Abb's Head.
YHA was easy to find, and central to what Berwick has to offer.
It seems unfair for me to give feedback because we were due to stay in was a hotel with bed & breakfast, Tv, Kettle, hairdryer etc etc This was cancelled at the last minute & YHA was our only choice
If we had been a young family rather than OAP's
First time used guesthouse instead of hotel and would definitly come back. Beautiful house. room was very big and beautiful as well. Quiet and welcoming. Only regret is should have used the experience to the max and engage in the conversations with the owners and other residents. One for next time.
It was convenient for walking into Berwick and an excellent base for visiting the surrounding area. It was comfortable, clean and well supplied. The Prosecco, chocolates and milk were very welcome and shows the welcoming nature of the owners and their thoughtfulness.
Ideally located hotel in the quaint town of Berwick-upon-Tweed. Everything is a walkable distance. Lovely staff, so friendly. Breakfast was excellent, lots of options. The room was spacious and had a bath. Absolutely zero complaints.
I liked the staff who helped me out after I checked into location of the hotel with a small issue. The location was fantastic, and the place was neat and clean, basic but very nice for a short stay!! I'd stay again!! Very responsive
Lovely Couple and very quiet nice hotel, breakfast was great and property is in lovely location, parking is limited and weather was horrible but couple were full of local knowledge and gave great recommendations for places to eat.
The Castle Hotel is such close walk from the train station. We were greeted warmly and offered afternoon snacks, sandwiches and quiche. Was simply lovely after a long day of travel.
