The beds were quite comfy however there were marks on the bedsheets and the floor was already sandy when we checked in. The AC is also very weak and barely made a difference to the room.

Lots to do particularly if you want to scuba or snorkel.
Lots to do particularly if you want to scuba or snorkel. In my opinion it's more an adult destination as lots of bars and people openly smoke cannabis. Lots of mopeds racing around small streets. The food is great and value for money. If you enjoy travelling, take a boat taxi to other beaches or book a tour. There is plenty to do and see.

Travelling to Samui I was really disappointed with the snorkelling, luckily I had spare time at the end of the holiday where I hadn't booked & we took a 3 night trip to Koh Tao. It had the best beaches in Thailand in my opinion. Sairee beach had great restauarants, the Thai people were amazing (although this is the same wherever you go in Thailand). Getting around you really need a moped, which might put some people off.

A few days is nice here as it is a small island.
A few days is nice here as it is a small island. Great for diving and snorkling. However:
- The coral is dead unfortunately, the few turtles are harrassed by tourists and are not treated nicely, Shark bay is owned by a resort and they profit from the tourism to the sharks. I advice to stay away from this part.
- The island is not genuine Thai culture experience anymore but overrun by tourists unfortunately (March 2024). In the town there is not a spot without a scooter and party places. Weed places and stores everywhere and Western food. I would not recommend the town to people looking for culture, for genuine Thai experiences (except some restaurants) or for a quiet holiday if you stay close to town. Go look for accomodations far from the town centre and you will have an amazing time though (Jungle, freedom beach etc.)
- Scooters are for experienced people only, we saw too many crashes/falls and people with severe injuries. It is really not worth it to rent a scooter if you do not know how to drive uphill/mountains and on the left side. If you go for it, wear at least a helmet and your children too. So many people with babies? and little kids? without a helmet, like are you really risking that?
- Most of it you can just walk, walk or take a taxi if you are unknown with scooters

Our villa with own pool was the best.
Our villa with own pool was the best. If you dive and you are in your 20s you enjoy the place a lot. If you are older, it’s quickly seen.
Sairee beach area is not my place . Other parts of the island I did not see; difficult to go around.
I missed vegetables to eat on this island but fresh fruit shakes, I loved. Local food was cheap but delicious especially seafood.

Koh Tao isn't the biggest of islands, you can hire scooters but some of the island is different to access via scooter.
We stayed in Mae Haad and there are plenty of restaurants/bars to choose from some of them being beachfront.

The roads to many places are insanely steep.
The roads to many places are insanely steep. Two people on a rental motorbike could not make it up some hills. We are not heavy people and a couple times one had to get off and walk. Alternatively if you think your going to taxi everywhere bring a large stack of cash. 300-400 THB each way, everywhere you go and that''s an 8 min drive. Islands pretty small. Best to have a rental motorbike for each person but even that was to scary for my partner. Also this island is really all about diving and partying. Excellent if that's you jam.
We loved our stay here! The beds and rooms are super nice/comfortable. The lady on reception was SO helpful in arranging activities, ferries and advising us. It is super close to the beach! Some of the best service we have had in a hotel in Thailand.
There is a free transfer from the pier which was really nice with our bags.
After check out we were able to keep access to our room until our ferry was due to so many people checking out the same day. We were able to check in early and our bags were put in our room for us.
Firstly we absolutely loved each and every staff member from reception to the cleaners, they all made our stay really enjoyable. The rooms are cleaned everyday to a really high standard, always smelt great when we came back from our day out. The location is nice if you want to be close to the busy area but come back to some peace and tranquillity. Sairee beach is only 5mins away on a scooter. They also offer a really cheap taxi service within the hotel if you’re not renting a scooter. We would stay here again 100%
The best thing is undoubtedly the location. It is in the most atmospheric area of the island (understanding that it is a very quiet environment), near the port and the main road.
Pati, is the girl at the reception. She is the best of the hotel, very attentive and always ready to help you.
The restaurant on the beach, we didn't try it but the food looks very good. The cocktails were very good.
Next to the hotel, where we rented the motorcycle, there are supermarkets too.
Great location! Before arriving I was a little worried that it was too far away from Sairee Beach/town area but, walking along the beach from accommodation, there was a nice spread of bars, restaurants (& great massage place) leading up to the more lively area. Definitely enjoyed being that little bit out. We did rent a motorbike to get around other parts of the island during the day. Room was spacious and clean with a great balcony.
We stayed at the Cabana for two nights. The room was excellent and very comfortable. The hotel had a great pool and a really good beach. The snorkelling spot was really good too. The hotel is also in a really convenient location and is just a short walk into town where to can find lots of bars and restaurants. If I was looking to stay on this side of the island again I would definitely consider Koh Tao Cabana.
Best value for money we saw on koh tao.
If you're going to rent a bike, there is no point in paying more just to stay by the beach, the island is pretty small and everything is close.
Free ride from the pier and back when leaving.
Good bike rental, and huge supermarket under the place of the same owner. Cheap local restaurants nearby.
The hotel is super clean and tidy, staff is very sweet and helpful. The room was equipped with anything, including umbrellas, a beach bag, and two sarong (I ended up purchasing one!). I also used the laundry service which was great and super fast. The pool is beautiful and relaxing although not sure how the bar service worked.
The best thing about this place is the view! Also, it is super quiet. Yes, It is secluded, but for us it was great and also easy to move around the Island by motorbike or the shuttle service by the hotel. The beach closest to the hotel is a real paradise beach (it is a 20-minute walk if you do not have a motorbike).
After staying at the hotel last year already we decided to stay again for a whole month while traveling Thailand and we felt completely at home. everything from staff to rooms is 10/10.
it‘s quiet during the night but at the same time just a 5 minute scooter ride to sairee beach with all its restaurants and bars.
Perfect location - situated in a lovely quiet part of Sairee Beach for when you’d like some quiet time but only a ten minute walk from the more
lively area. On-site restaurant very good quality and good value for money. We did the one day diving course through the hotel which was also fantastic.
I stayed in a private room and it was nicer than most hotels I’ve stayed at in Thailand. Spacious, clean & modern design. The staff was very helpful and I also did their one day scuba and loved it! Would highly recommend staying here.
The hostel is in a quiet street but within 5 min walk to the Main Street/beach. The owner is very friendly and knows the island well- thank you so much :) the hostel is also mostly quiet and close to Roctopus diving school!
We booked an overnight stay while visiting Koh Tao. The hotel was very nice and quiet, with super friendly staff who were able to organize a cab + boat for us with a good price to visit the island in the neighborhood.
small nice hotel run by friendly owner offering exceptional coffee. the beach is only 5 min walk away, also a diving school is. but you are a bit off the noisy and busy part of sairee beach. so perfect to relax.
it was an excellent stay, clean and very comfortable stay. totally worth the money. IT was very near to all the main attractions and also its just 5mints walk on the shore from the ferry stop to the hotel.
