Of course, you should expect thin walls but since all guests were there to rest we didn't have any problems. The staff is kind and accommodating, and even went out of the way to rescue us when we got stranded in the snowstorm (yes, we became THAT kind of tourist). A warm shower, comfortable bed, and super quiet location ideal for seeing the northern lights (which we saw).

Opened in July 2018, Hótel Kría is situated in Vík. Among the various facilities are a garden and a bar. There is a restaurant. The black sand beaches begin about 5 minutes' walk from the hotel. Nice and good place to stay. Dinner was as well very nice.

It was refined-country, cozy, crisp, and sophisticated-for-Iceland without being pretentious or minimalistic. Painted wooden panels, lush couches and beds that you sink into, spacious bathrooms. Beyond the decor being truly attractive, the staff was always smiling and helpful. After a freezing trip under the Seljalandsfoss waterfall's spray, I felt my extremities again in their clean sauna and further rejuvenated in the pool looking directly out into the landscape. Food was delicious with intriguing combinations of tastes. Parking was free and plentiful, access from the main road was simple, yet removed from the fray. I highly recommend this hotel/manor.
